Early this morning, President Uhuru Kenyatta left the country aboard a KQ flight destined for the Netherlands ahead of his ICC status conference tomorrow. Unconfirmed reports indicate that around 100 members of parliament will be in The Hague in a show of solidarity with Kenyatta.

Godfrey Mwampembwa, best known as GADO, was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is a renowned cartoonist who in 1999 he was named Kenya Cartoonist of the Year. GADO is a 2007 Prince Claus laureate and a winner of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission Award in Journalism in 2005 and 2007. He has exhibited his works in Tanzania, Kenya, France, Norway, Finland and Italy.
Background
On 19 September 2014, ICC Trial Chamber V(b) vacated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ICC trial date and instead scheduled two status conferences for 7 and 8 October 2014. The judges also ordered that Kenyatta to appear in person during the 8 October status conference.
