ICC Prosecutor Bensouda deserves a holiday!

All indications are that, unlike most people in the Netherlands, ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda did not go on summer holidays because of the ongoing global conflicts and challenges in the ICC Kenya cases.

In the last few weeks, most of the Netherlands, like much of Europe, has been on holiday. According to the ICC court calendar, the Hague-based court was on recess from 28 July 2014 to 8 August 2014. A visit to the premises revealed that the international court had scaled down its operations during this period. However, last week ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda seemed to still be hard at work. On 5 August 2014 she met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine to discuss the country’s potential entry into the Rome Statute.

This week’s cartoon assumes that Bensouda would have liked to go on holiday but she had to change her plans because of the ongoing conflicts in the world and the many challenges in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ICC case.
